A couple of months before we took delivery of the wife’s Toyota Yaris, I went on a business trip to Bangkok and chanced upon a car accessories shop in MBK (here’s a related blog). I took the risk of purchasing a few imitation Vitz badges even if Tina and I were not 100% sure on getting the Yaris.
Driving around with the Netz badge on, I’ve been getting a lot of puzzled looks. Some bystanders look at the car as if they totally don’t recognize it! I don’t blame them, as the Yaris is a rare Toyota (an oxymoron considering that Manila’s roads are basically an ocean of Vioses, Innovas and Fortuners). In fact when you look around you’d be hard pressed to find a Yaris, as compared to the supposedly exclusive new Honda Jazz that is now a dime a dozen on the streets today. Adding the Netz badge to the mix makes the car totally obscure to Juan Dela Cruz.
To those not aware of what Netz is, it’s a dealership in Japan that sells Toyotas with a different front badge. The Netz dealership supposedly caters for the new and younger market.
I was also able to replace the rear emblem of our Yaris to Vitz. More of that in an upcoming blog post. For more info on the day-to-day life of my wife’s Yaris, please do follow twitter.com/yarislife, a twitter account that’s sort of a perpetual review and car diary.
